Painters in Thames Centre, Ontario

Based in Dorchester. Thorndale, Putnam, Mossley, Nilestown, Harrietsville and Avon, with Thamesford and Belmont just over the line.

Thames Centre is the township around us: Dorchester, Thorndale, Putnam, Mossley, Nilestown, Harrietsville and Avon, and the concession roads in between. Mill Pond Painters is based in Dorchester, so every one of those villages is a short drive, and we have painted in most of them.

We are rated 5.0 on Google, carry liability insurance and WSIB coverage, and back every job with a 2-year workmanship warranty.

Where We Have Painted in Thames Centre

  • Dorchester: home base. The village has its own page, with the streets we have worked on and reviews from village homeowners: painters in Dorchester.
  • Thorndale: Nissouri Road (a back deck brought back to a cedar colour after a hardware-store sealer wore off, and a walls-only repaint of the living room, kitchen, three bedrooms and mud room of a second house) and Monteith Avenue (the upper board-and-batten siding changed from grey, three coats, plus an exterior door and its frame).
  • Putnam: Marshall Street (an exterior: power washed, sanded, two coats on all the trim, two doors, the spindles and the front shutters, then the back deck and steps stained on a return visit).
  • Mossley: Mossley Drive (an interior repaint, then three decks: the front porch, the pool deck and an old back deck stripped and solid-stained, railing and stairs included), Crampton Drive (an interior repaint), Guest Lane (the ceilings in the kitchen, living room, hallway and front entrance, painted over old water stains) and Harrietsville Drive (kitchen, living room and two hallways: walls, trim, ceilings, the door faces, and the ceiling repairs first).
  • Nilestown, Harrietsville and Avon: same township, same drive. Nothing to list yet, which is the only reason they are not above.

Just Over the Township Line

Two places sit a few minutes past the Thames Centre boundary and come up often enough to belong here.

Thamesford, east of Thorndale in Zorra Township: Boyd Boulevard (two garage doors, plus a bathroom inside), Finlayson Drive (living room and hallway walls, trim and ceiling, with a stained kitchen ceiling blocked and painted) and Beaty Lane (three rooms with ten-foot ceilings, one of them vaulted).

Belmont, south of Dorchester in Central Elgin: Crampton Drive (living room, dining room and kitchen) and Truman Line (the entryway, hallway, kitchen and back-room entrance).

What Thames Centre Homes Ask For

Decks, porches and pool decks. Township lots are big enough for real decks, and the sun gets at them all day. The Mossley Drive property had three: a newer front porch and pool deck that wanted a long-lasting stain and sealer, and an old back deck that was past saving with a transparent finish, so it was stripped and given a solid stain, railing and stairs included. The Nissouri Road deck had a hardware-store sealer that wore off within a season; it was cleaned, sanded and stained a cedar colour so the finish soaks into the wood instead of sitting on top. The Putnam back deck and steps were a return visit after the exterior.

Older village homes and farmhouses. Wood trim, shutters, porch spindles and doors take the weather out here, and the prep is most of the job. The Marshall Street exterior in Putnam was power washed and sanded before two coats went on every piece of trim, both doors, the spindles and the front shutters.

Siding colour changes. The Monteith Avenue house in Thorndale had grey board-and-batten on its upper storey. It went to a new colour in three coats, with the brick left as brick and an exterior door and frame done to match.

Ceilings. Water stains, plaster cracks and nail pops come up in houses of every age out here. The Guest Lane ceilings in Mossley had old water stains, so they were sealed with a stain-blocking primer before the ceiling paint. The Harrietsville Drive job started with ceiling repairs before any colour went on. The Finlayson Drive kitchen ceiling in Thamesford was the same story.

Whole-floor repaints. The Nissouri Road house (living room, kitchen, three bedrooms and mud room), the Harrietsville Drive house (kitchen, living room and two hallways, walls, trim and ceilings) and the Beaty Lane rooms with ten-foot ceilings were all one booking each: furniture covered in place, floors protected, the whole floor done in one run.

Painting Services in Thames Centre

We do the same work in the township that we do everywhere else.

  • Interior painting: walls, ceilings, trim, doors, closets, stairwells and basements, one room or the whole house. A washable eggshell on walls, flat on ceilings, enamel on trim.
  • Exterior painting: siding, fascia, soffits, window and door trim, front doors, garage doors, porches, railings and shutters.
  • Deck and brick staining: decks, pool decks, porches, gazebos, fences and railings, plus brick staining for exteriors and fireplaces.
  • Cabinet painting: kitchen and bathroom cabinets sprayed for a smooth, hard finish.
  • Drywall and plaster repair, popcorn ceiling removal, wallpaper removal and colour help come with the work when you need them.

How a Thames Centre Estimate Works

We come to the house, however long the driveway is, walk the rooms or the exterior with you, measure, and ask what you want the finish to look like. You get a written quote with the scope spelled out line by line.

If you go ahead, you pick colours and we book the days. Furniture gets covered in place, floors get protected, and you get a walk-through with us before we leave.

What Thames Centre Homeowners Say

Every review on our Google profile is from a real customer. These six are from the township and the two places just over the line.

Michael K., interior, Mossley Drive, Mossley

Wow, I'm very impressed with the professionalism and dedication Charlie and his team provided with the recent work I had done with staining of my decks. They always kept me informed throughout the process and timelines. Thank you very much Charlie and team!!

Trish F., deck, Nissouri Road, Thorndale

Very professional and they did a great job. They painted the kitchen, living room and three bedrooms. We are very pleased! Both guys enjoyed their work and it showed.

Lesley W., interior, Nissouri Road, Thorndale

We had our ceilings repainted, along with plaster repair. They did a great job, especially the repaired ceiling cracks in the vaulted LR ceiling. Charlie & Paul were fast & professional and produced great results. We have no hesitation hiring them to do any paint jobs!

Michael P., ceilings, Guest Lane, Mossley

We just had our living room and a couple ceilings painted by Mill Pond Painters. Our experience was excellent! From owner Charlie who provided the quote, and organized the job, to the painters, Paul & Ennis who completed the painting & cleanup..everything was done so very well. We would have them back to paint in a heartbeat. Thank you Mill Pond Painters!

Rose M., living room and ceilings, Finlayson Drive, Thamesford

Charlie and Paul did a great job. Right from the initial quote process from Charlie to a quick schedule in to paint. Great personality to work with. Professional and communication was fantastic. Will definitely have them back and highly recommend.

Thames Centre Painting Questions

Is Dorchester part of Thames Centre?

Yes. Dorchester is the largest village in the township and it is where we are based. Thorndale, Putnam, Mossley, Nilestown, Harrietsville and Avon are the rest of it, and Thamesford and Belmont are just past the line.

Do you come out to farms and properties on the concession roads?

Yes. Nissouri Road, Harrietsville Drive, Crampton Drive and Truman Line are all on the list above. The estimate works the same way as in the village: we come to the house, walk it with you and write the quote.

My deck had a sealer that wore off in a year. Can it be redone?

Yes, and it is the most common deck call we get out here. The old finish gets cleaned off, the wood gets sanded, and a penetrating stain goes on so the colour is in the wood rather than on it. The Nissouri Road deck was exactly that. Our guide on when to stain a deck in Ontario covers temperature, humidity and timing.

Can you change the colour of wood siding?

Yes. Board-and-batten and other wood siding takes a solid colour change well when the prep is right: wash, scrape and sand what is loose, prime any bare wood, then the coats it takes for full coverage. The Monteith Avenue house in Thorndale took three.

Can you fix water stains and cracks in a ceiling before painting?

Yes. Stains get sealed with a stain-blocking primer so they cannot bleed through, cracks and nail pops get filled and sanded, and then the ceiling gets painted. Guest Lane and Harrietsville Drive in Mossley were both that kind of job.

Do you work in Thamesford and Belmont?

Yes. Both are a few minutes past the township line and both are on the list above. The towns farther out, St. Thomas, Ingersoll and Woodstock, are on the areas we serve page.
